Welcome To Claire Lyne's Writing

The Journey
Once upon a time. there was a little girl who loved to write stories. She made simple books by sewing pages together with coloured wool and people loved the little stories The years rolled by and she typed her scribbled notes, keeping them safe. The characters in her imagination kept her company on her journey into adulthood and were ever increasing, eventually they found it overcrowded and wanted to be set free. Hearing their pleas. she finally set about devoting more time to completing each story and sending her characters on their journeys. Who knows how far they will travel, Claire hopes they will reach and entertain you.

About Me
Living in the South West of England I often find inspiration from my beautiful surroundings. I enjoy guiding my characters through their journeys, which have mainly been scripts, although I also write short stories, and the occasional poetry.I was delighted when two of my screenplays were chosen as finalists in the 2023 Page Turner Awards, and thrilled when my short audio play won Theatre West's, 'Making an Exhibition of Yourself' in 2024.I continue to scribble away at every opportunity as new characters find me; I look forward to introducing them to you.

What's the latest?
Although Claire hasn’t added any scripts or stories for a year, she hasn’t been idle. She discovered Front Room, a theatre space in Weston-super -Mare which hosts a variety of events including great family shows. Claire approached Adam, one of the founders, to investigate the possibilities of having ‘Mimm and the Lost Friend’ produced and was hopeful it could happen. Adam put forward a few suggestions and ideas started to take hold.
The main suggestion was to consider using puppets for the characters. Although the image of Punch and Judy didn’t appeal to Claire, The Muppets fought their way through and banished Punch and Judy. Over the last few months, the script has seen a lot of changes and investigations led her to Puppet Place in Bristol. This is an active centre of creativity, an important centre in the South West, and focuses on the creation of puppets in all shapes and sizes.
Embarking on puppet related workshops and talking to puppeteers, Claire has been learning new skills to help develop her play., she said “This recent leg of my journey has been very interesting and extremely enjoyable. Theatre has crept up on me and is taking me on a path I didn't expect, it provides possibilities that can set your stories free.”

Hopefully this Easter themed play will be ready for Easter 2027.
